~~~Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve v 1.0 ReadMe~~~ _______________________________________________________ Brought to you by Redsneezy & Sons Construction Co., Inc. A proud member of Freeland. The Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve is by far the most ambitious SimCity 3000 Unlimited project to date for Big Bad Red. It is the culmination of three months of work to make the largest "building" ever. It is 70 tiles wide and 90 tiles long, and consists of 252 5x5 buildings. All the buildings have been converted into "landmarks". All the paints, props, and details that were used in the making of this project are also available on this disc. System Requirements: -A PC with a working SimCity 3000 Unlimited installed on it. -177 MB of free disk space on the same drive that SimCity is installed on. _______________________________________________________ Directions: The entire park is made up of landmark files. To use these files you must do the following: 1) Insert the Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve CD into your CD drive. 2) Open the disc, and then open the folder named "03 Landmark Files (DAT Files)". There you will see a number of individual folders. 3) Go to the "Edit" menu, click "Select All". Then under the "Edit" menu, click "Copy" 4) Click the "Start" button, click "Run..." 5) In the "Open:" field, type the following: C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 3000 Unlimited\Apps\Plugin\ 6) Go to the "Edit" menu, then click "Paste". A number of folders will be copied to your hard drive. 7) Go back to Step 2 and repeat this process with the contents of the "05 Landmark Accessories" folder also found on your CD. *8) There are 4 cities found on the CD that have the park already set up for you. Or you may refer to the placement charts on this CD to help you place the various parts yourself. ______________________________________________________ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Q) I have followed the steps listed above, but I still get those annoying brown patches where the landmarks just aren't showing up!!! A) Go to your landmarks menu in SimCity, find the missing pieces and put them in manually. Refer to the placement charts on this disc if you need to. Q) I don't like the names that you used for the landmarks, so I changed them. But now NONE of those landmarks working. What gives??? A) The game won't recongnize the landmark files if you change their names. Q) I want to change something in the park (i.e. change the roof on the Welcome Center), but I can't seem to open the landmarks up in the Building Architect Plus (BAP) or in the SimCity 3000 Unlimited Rendering Kit (SC3URK) to edit them. What gives??? A) Sorry, you can't edit the landmarks unless you're a computer super-genius. Otherwise, you're just going to have to make your own. Q) I'm setting up the park from scratch, but I don't know where everything goes!!! A) No problem. There are placement charts on this CD that will help you. If you can read a grid, it should be no problem. The code in each little square will correspond to the code on each landmarks (i.e. G2 on grid matches G2 landmark). Q) Okay... but there are a few on the grid that don't have corresponding landmarks in the game! These are marked in yellow too. What's up with that??? A) Well, those repeat. If you look at the chart, there is another code underneath and that's the one that you use. Q) I used all the paints, props, and details from your disc and they're great, but now I'm having weird problems with my game! Some landmarks aren't coming up right, I've lost a few buildings, etc. What are you doing to me??? A) SimCity 3000 Unlimited seems to only be able to handle so many custom stuff at one time. Anything past that can cause problems. Trust us, we had to learn that the hard way. Using all those custom goodies along with however many other goodies you probably already have all at the same time could actually be detrimental to your PC. Try streamlining and using only a couple handfuls at a time. Q) I want to use this in my own city or on my own terrain!!! A) Go ahead. It's all there under the landmark menu, just get to placing. Q) I'm playing my city and I'm having problems balancing my budget. Can I charge admission to the park? or can I put a tax on it? A) No. Q) I see roads in the park and I'm trying to get mine to connect up with them but it just doesn't seem to be working. Why not? A) It's technically a building, so you can't really do that. --- if you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at: bigbadred@freelandrealty.50megs.com Thank you and we hope you really like the park!!!
